The chart below shows the trends in birth rates to teens 15-17, 18-19 and all teens 15-19. In general, teen birth rates have been decreasing since 1960.
In 2004, birth rates among White and Black teens decreased 2.2% and 3.1%, respectively, while the birth rate among Hispanic teens marginally increased 0.4%
- White, 2003 to 2004: 27.4 to 26.8 per 1,000 females 15-19, a 2.2% decrease.
- Black, 2003 to 2004: 64.7 to 62.7 per 1,000 females 15-19, a 3.1% decrease.
- Hispanic, 2003 to 2004: 82.3 to 82.6 per 1,000 females 15-19, a 0.4% increase.
