Obesity among first ring high school students in Cuyahoga County, 2005

The Youth Risk Behavior Survey performed by the Division of Adolescent Health of Case Western Reserve University is a remarkable source for information on Cuyahoga County youth.

The 2005 Youth Risk Behavioral Survey reports on physical activity behavior among first ring high school students in Cuyahoga County. First ring high schools are those schools that lie in municipalities that share a border with Cleveland.

8.9% of high school students surveyed reported their body mass index to be slightly or very overweight, similar to state and national levels. Three-quarters (74.9%) of students reported participating in vigorous activities at least three times in the week they were surveyed.

Black students were more at risk of becoming overweight significantly more that their White counterparts.

See the Report for details and the Appendix forĀ more informationĀ on the methods used.
